Sefton Events: Firework Championship
Rocketing sales for one of Southport’s biggest live events.

MASS Role
MASS created the campaign identity and visual direction for
the British Musical Fireworks Championship, working with
Southport Tourism and Sefton Council to give the event
greater visibility and help drive ticket sales.
The identity needed to capture the energy and spectacle of the
Championship while working effectively across everything
from large-format outdoor advertising to printed promotional
materials.

The Challenge
The British Musical Fireworks Championship is one of the major events in Southport’s annual calendar, bringing together professional displays synchronised to music.
The campaign needed to communicate the scale and excitement of the event, stand out within a busy programme of seasonal activity and persuade more people to purchase tickets.
It also had to remain clear and recognisable across a wide variety of formats, including roadside advertising, street furniture, posters, magazine promotions and event communications.

The Idea
We developed a confident visual identity built around the energy, colour and explosive movement of the event.
Bold graphic bursts, strong typography and dramatic imagery created a campaign that felt immediate and exciting while giving the Championship a clear and consistent presence.
The visual system was designed to be flexible, allowing it to adapt across different sizes and environments without losing its impact.
The Work
MASS applied the campaign identity across the complete promotional rollout.
The work included large-format outdoor advertising, bus and roadside placements, lamp-post banners, wall posters, magazine advertising and supporting print materials.
Each element worked as part of one recognisable campaign, helping the event dominate its surroundings and build anticipation in the run-up to the Championship.

The Result
The campaign gave the British Musical Fireworks Championship a strong, highly visible identity that worked just as effectively outdoors as it did on the printed page.
The event became the busiest in its history, attracting thousands of visitors from across the region and creating a positive knock-on effect for businesses throughout Southport.

Client Response
“It’s great to hear that this year’s British Musical Firework Championship was the busiest on record. Thousands of people from across the region headed to the resort.
This will have a positive knock-on for local businesses in the resort.”
